SIDNEY – The Sidney Platte Valley Post 17 Juniors advanced in the Class B-7 Area Tournament with a shutout of the Hi-Line Bulls Post 290 Saturday morning, in a continuation of a game that was rained out Friday evening at Legion Field. Sidney scored 15 runs on 14 hits, while holding Hi-Line hitless over four innings for the 15-0 win.

Sidney starter Calvin Borgmann went 3 ? innings striking out five and did not walk a batter. Rylan Swope came on with one out in the fourth inning to record the last two outs. Sidney scored four runs on three hits in the home half of the fourth to end the game.

Connor Schumacher and Anderson Smelley paced Sidney at the plate. Schumacher went three for four with two runs scored with three RBIs, while Smelley continued his onslaught at the plate by going two-for two with a home run and three RBIs.

Second seeded Sidney, who improves to 15-5 on the season, returns to the diamond tonight for a winner’s bracket game against 13-9 Platte Valley Companies Chadron Post 12. Chadron advanced with a 4-1 win over Ogallala Adams Insurance Post 135 on Friday afternoon.
