OMAHA, Neb. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Wednesday arrested a man they described as a gang kingpin who is among El Salvador’s top 100 most wanted fugitives.

The man’s name has not been released, but officials said he is wanted in El Salvador for aggravated homicide in the deaths of five people, among other crimes.

Homeland Security Investigations also arrested Rene Saul Escobar Ochoa, who authorities identified as a known MS-13 gang member and foreign terrorist wanted in El Salvador.

Both men were taken into custody without incident in what officials called a targeted operation. Authorities said the men had been living in the Omaha area for an undisclosed period of time.

Further details, including the suspects’ immigration status or potential extradition proceedings, were not immediately available.
