NORFOLK, Neb. — A cleanup operation is underway near Norfolk Iron and Metal on Saturday because of a train derailment.
Video from the scene shows at least six train cars off of the rails at the Victory Road railroad crossing immediately east of Norfolk Iron and Metal. The derailment occurred directly at the crossing, meaning all traffic is blocked on that section of Victory Road. Several workers were on scene assessing the situation.
Details concerning the derailment are unclear as of Saturday afternoon. Norfolk Iron and Metal’s office is closed. A Norfolk Police official said the division doesn’t have any information on the incident despite being aware that it had happened. Information about injuries or how long the crossing will be closed are unavailable at this time.
