KIMBALL -- The widow of long-time Kimball teacher Don Meyer is giving away his handcrafted crystal glass creations as a way to pay tribute to him.

Carol Meyer and her daughter Suzanne Norton set up a table full of Don’s creations to give away at the Business & Vendor Fair during the Kimball Longhorn All Class Reunion weekend.

The figurines available are elephants, swans, snails, teacups and so many others. They are available as a free-will donation with all proceeds going toward the Kimball Public Schools Foundation.

Carol has had Don’s creations packed up in storage for years since he passed away in 2020.

“It needed to come out in the light of day,” she said. “We weren’t able to have a memorial service for him since he passed away during COVID. It was just time to do something, and I thought ‘well let’s do it during the All Class Reunion because people remember a lot about him.’”

Don taught a variety of classes over the course of 41 years including biology, advanced biology, chemistry, psychology, glass blowing, and photography.

He decided to explore his artistic side and taught himself how to create glass figurines, then he and Carol would go to gem and mineral shows to sell his work.

Carol and Suzanne will be at the 4H building until 3 p.m. Saturday, but if you would like a piece of his work later, you can reach out to Suzanne at [email protected].
