ARIZONA, Neb. — In a surprising twist, the tiny town of Arizona, Nebraska, has named Liquid Death its official iced tea, a decision that has heads turning. News Channel Nebraska ventured into this unincorporated township in Burt County, population approximately 14, to uncover the story behind this unexpected choice.

Our quest began with knocking on doors in the quiet local town, but information was scarce until we met an older gentleman with a jolly smile, clad in a green shirt and bib overalls. He graciously shared his taste-testing expertise and a history lesson about the town, which was established in 1887.

Self-appointed Mayor Kent McCluskey clarified that the town's actual population hovers around 13 or 14, despite rumors of inflated numbers in the past. "The town itself is actually 13 or 14 people and abuts the town of Tekamah, which has a larger population," McCluskey explained.

Before the turn of the century, Arizona was known as Newton, named after a farmer who owned 400 to 500 acres of land. McCluskey, who resides in Newton's former home, cherishes the town's rich history. "Newton was a farmer with around 4 to 500 acres, and that’s what keeps the town alive. Back in the day, there was also a race track because Newton was known to have liked and sold horses," he recounted.

Arizona once boasted a blacksmith shop, a parsonage with a church, and a post office. While the town may be off the beaten path, McCluskey insists it has an undeniable charm. "He wouldn’t want to live anywhere else because it's just a place that has sense to make you feel at home," he said.

Liquid Death touts its iced teas as a healthier alternative to other canned beverages, noting their lower sugar content and natural caffeine. Each flavor features a humorous, death-themed name, such as Dead Billionaire, Rest In Peach, Blueberry Buzzsaw, Green Guillotine, and Slaughter Berry.
