Juvenile Injured in vehicle-bicycle collision

SCOTTSBLUFF -- At about 2:59 p.m. Monday, the Scottsbluff Police Department responded to a report of a juvenile who had been struck by a vehicle near the 1700 block of South Beltline Highway West.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a juvenile male had been riding his bicycle westbound along the shoulder of the roadway. The juvenile then turned southbound, attempting to cross both lanes of traffic, and failed to see a silver Ford F-250 pickup that had slowed, traveling also westbound, and was about to pass him. The bicycle and the vehicle collided.
The juvenile sustained serious but non-critical injuries as a result of the collision and was transported from the scene by his parent.
No fault was found on the part of the 36-year-old female driver of the Ford F-250, and no law enforcement action is being considered. A State of Nebraska accident report will be completed.
The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Regional West Ambulance Service, and the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department. Several witnesses stopped to assist during the incident.
