From Filley to Philadelphia...former BHS football star, now Eagles starting center, gets his name on field

BEATRICE – The new field turf surface at the Beatrice High School House of Orange is now officially, Cam Jurgens Field.
The former Beatrice multi-sport standout, former Cornhusker Football star and now starting center for the Superbowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, now has his name on the home team sideline at the House of Orange, where he was a star at multiple positions.
"Didn't know it was going to be this big...it's pretty wild. It's going to be pretty cool with the whole football team standing next to my name. Thank you guys for all making this happen. Thank you to all the teammates coming out...people in the community. It's so cool to be going on to Nebraska, to Filley...and just know when people talk about me, they say I came from Beatrice, Nebraska. People from all over the country are going to hear about Beatrice, Nebraska....whether they say it right, or not.....that's alright. Now they can talk about Cam Jurgens Field.....thanks again, guys."

Former high school teammates of Cam Jurgens were in attendance along with his family, as his name was unveiled on the turf, a newly installed replacement surface ready for use this coming football season.
NCN’s Jake Bartecki emceed the event, relaying questions from the crowd to Jurgens about the challenges of playing pro football, the influences in his life and the enjoyment of coming back to the Filley and Beatrice area, where he grew up.
Jurgens will be the Grand Marshal of Saturday’s Homestead Days Parade. The ceremony at the House of Orange was followed by a fireworks display at the high school, attended by thousands and also viewed from surrounding neighborhoods.
