KEARNEY, Neb.-- Protesters gathered at Senator Pete Ricketts' Kearney office to protest a bill working through the Senate.

The Republican budget reconciliation bill touches on four major topics that are leaving members of the Friends of Bernie Sanders Organization unsatisfied. These topics include: Medicaid, rural hospitals, insurance premiums, and food benefits, such as SNAP.

Protests took place at all four of Senator Ricketts' offices on Friday that are located in Kearney, Lincoln, Omaha and Scottsbluff.

Those present showed up with plans to speak with Senator Ricketts, but no one answered in his office.

"We are trying to make sure that people know there is an alternative, and that those who are in power know that they need to work a little harder and figure out what they should be doing because they represent us just as much as they represent the one percent," protest organizer Wendy Wyatt said.

They picketed with signs in front of the building, waved flags and stuck note cards to his door expressing their concerns.

The bill just recently passed the House by one vote and has since moved to the Senate.

Senator Ricketts has not yet voted on it and didn't address the bill in his latest news conference.
