Fairbury residents urged to restrict water usage

The city of Fairbury has entered phase one of a water restriction operation, and with little precipitation expected along with extreme temperatures forecast across the region this weekend, residents are being urged to conserve water.
The city announced the guidance on 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 and said the situation will be reviewed by city staff on a regular basis, and the request will remain in effect until further notice.
Jefferson County emergency management services announced earlier Thursday afternoon that a wide swath of Eastern Nebraska will be under an Extreme Heat Warning starting from noon Friday and running through 7 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service said Thursday this will be the hottest weekend of 2025 so far, with temperatures running from 95 to 103 degrees and heat index values between 100 and 110.
The following is Thursday's complete public notice from the city of Fairbury. It has been reprinted in full. We will continue to provide updates on News Channel Nebraska and Ol' Red 99.5 as the situation evolves.
