KIMBALL -- The City of Kimball intends to partner with Kimball Public Schools for seasonal use of Mary Lynch Elementary as a tornado shelter.

The City of Kimball and Kimball Public Schools will enter an MOU that allows pool patrons to use the elementary as a tornado shelter during the summer months.

The staff members will be provided with access cards to the school in case anybody is at the pool during a tornado warning.

In the city council meeting Tuesday night, City Administrator Annette Brower said, “If something were to happen and we needed to get everybody to safety, we could go over to the Mary Lynch, take them into the basement, and shelter in place until the warning is over.”
