KIMBALL -- Judge Derek Weimer sentenced a man on June 10 in Kimball County District Court in theft and possession cases.

Thirty-five-year-old Sean Williams pled no contest to an amended charge of theft by receiving stolen property, a Class 1 Misdemeanor, that occurred in Cheyenne County.

Cheyenne County Attorney Amber Horn recommended jail time based on the fact that the defendant admitted to being involved in at least one of a string of burglaries.

Weimer sentenced him to serve one year with credit for the 259 days already served, leaving him with 106 days left on his sentence.

According to the affidavit by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, Williams advised Kimball and Cheyenne County authorities of information he had regarding thefts happening in Cheyenne County and that he participated in at least one of the burglaries.

Williams said in court: “I have been trying to change my life, and I came to the [authorities] and gave them this information to try to be a better person in this community. I was trying to better my life and get away from these people.”

Williams also pled no contest to Class 4 Felony possession of a controlled substance that occurred in Kimball County, receiving a sentence of 32 days’ time served.
