KEARNEY, Neb.-- A structure fire in Kearney is under investigation after the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a home on 6th Avenue.

The fire broke out at around 3:30 Tuesday Morning with multiple firetrucks responding, as well as CHI Good Samaritan and the Kearney Police Department.

The bulk of the fire was located on the backside of the home with an extension of the first in a second-floor bedroom.

With an hour, the fire was under control.

No injuries were reported, with the KVFD searching the home to ensure all occupants were out.

Preliminary investigation results indicate the fire was accidental and caused by embers from a fire pit. However, the State Fire Marshal was requested to assist with the investigation.
