PICKRELL, Neb. - Not long ago, Cam Jurgens was one of the 201 residents that call Pickrell, NE. home.

This Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles starting center returned to his hometown for the annual Pickrell Picnic to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

“It’s been neat coming back here the last few years, just seeing everyone and Pickrell Days just seems to be growing every year,” Jurgens said. ”It’s neat getting to give back to the community.”

The 2024-25 season had about as many highs as Jurgens could hope for. He successfully replaced future Hall of Fame Jason Kielce at center, earned his first Pro Bowl honors, and helped the Eagles to a Super Bowl title. But the year came with ups and downs. Jurgens battled through back injuries throughout the postseason, having surgery shortly after the seasons end.

Jurgens says he learned a lot about himself this past year.

“Just got to take it day by day,” Jurgens said. “The playoffs was the worst month of my life and the best month of my life all in one, it hurt so much some days I could even walk… But it’s all about getting ready to play. Laying your body out on the line for your team and doing what you can.”

Jurgens’ festivities in his home town aren’t ending quite yet… Next Friday night, the Beatrice High School alum will be given a special honor, as the House of Orange football turf will be named in his honor.

“I’m super excited for that,” Jurgens said. “I never would have thought I'd have a field named after me. For Beatrice to do that, I owe them a lot, it’s pretty cool.”

The field dedication is set for Friday, June 20 at the House of Orange. Doors open at 8:00 p.m.
