Revive Inc. now offering inpatient substance abuse rehab services at new facility
HASTINGS, Neb. – Revive Inc. in Hastings is coming up on five months since the opening of its unique substance abuse treatment facility, which is now offering inpatient rehab services for the first time, but the road ahead remains lengthy.
Since its inception in 2008, Revive only offered outpatient services in its old location on Burlington Ave.
Now they offer a short term and long term inpatient program for currently up to 50 people in a new facility that opened in January.
That number is expected to increase to 80 patients after more rooms are renovated, and a detox facility with 12 additional beds is expected to open in July.
The program is currently at max capacity.
Executive Director Kristine Kasperbauer has seen the ups and downs of this renovation to their new home, which started last summer, and says it wouldn’t be possible without the blossoming number of supportive staff.
"We started with six employees at Revive when I started, and now we have 60," said Kasperbauer. "Going from six to 60, it's been hard. There's been tears, it's not easy growing that fast in such a short time, but we've found our feet and we're continuing to grow, we aren't done."
The non-profit’s inpatient program is its new service, and gives clients a place to stay around the clock while going through an extensive 45-day inpatient rehab program.
Many of Revive’s staff have a personal or family history of substance abuse. That includes Direct Care Supervisor Sara Sims, who is now helping others navigate the same recovery path she once went through.
"The growth, the staff, and the clients have just been amazing. It's hard to believe its been six months almost," said Sims. "The way things have changed in our schedule, and all the ideas getting pulled together to make it better, it's been like a home away from home here."
Staff say their hard work is paying off, and they’re seeing it from the gratitude of their residents.
"One gentleman pulled me aside and said 'Thank you. I know your building isn't ready, but if you would not have let us come in here, I would be dead.' It was very eye-opening when I was insecure about the building, but the gratitude is everywhere." said Kasperbauer.
"My daughter's been to treatment in a ton of other places, and something about this vibe, I just feel like you guys care." Another person told Sims. "That's exactly our point. Most of our staff is in recovery so we've either dealt with it personally, or had family members, we see different aspects, and we're all here for the same reason." said Sims.
The detox facility is the final major inpatient service still yet to open.
When it does, Revive will be the first facility in Nebraska to offer inpatient and outpatient substance abuse rehab programs with a full continuum of care, plus a detox facility all under the same roof.
Other cosmetic and infrastructure renovations will continue over the next few years.
