KIMBALL -- Kimball County first responders will join for a Traffic Incident Management Training Saturday morning at Kimball Airport.

The training will consist of an accident simulation that will train the emergency services on how to respond cohesively to a multi-casualty incident.

“This is a beneficial training activity to prepare everybody for a serious accident should one happen,” said Sheriff David Hottell. “It will focus on traffic safety to ensure the safety of those around the area who are not involved in the initial incident.”

The simulation will be a multi-casualty accident involving a bus full of people that will lead to the dispatch of all local first responders.

The fire whistles in Kimball will start going off at about 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the fire whistles in Dix and Bushnell shortly after.

The departments participating in the training will include Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, Kimball Police Department, Kimball Ambulance, Kimball Hospital, and the Kimball, Bushnell and Dix Fire Departments.

The Kimball County Transit Services will also be involved because in a real scenario, if there was a multi-casualty incident, the ambulance services would be overloaded, so KCTS would assist in transporting noncritical victims.
