Greeley man arrested after Fort Morgan pursuit, home invasion incident
FORT MORGAN, Colo. – A Greeley, Colo. man wanted on multiple felony warrants was taken into custody earlier this month following a foot pursuit and home invasion in Fort Morgan, authorities said.
On May 8, Fort Morgan Police were notified that 37-year-old Chad Sindelar was headed to the area. Sindelar had a $500,000 cash-only warrant out of Jefferson County for distribution of controlled substances and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He also had a $1,000 personal recognizance bond out of Weld County for drug paraphernalia and driving under restraint.
Officers spotted Sindelar in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue, where he fled on foot after seeing law enforcement. A detective initially brought him to the ground, but Sindelar escaped and continued running. Due to the proximity of a nearby school, officers set a perimeter to prevent the pursuit from endangering students.
During the search, police learned that Sindelar had entered a nearby residence occupied by a woman and her two children. He allegedly threatened and attempted to bribe the occupants before fleeing.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sindelar on several charges, including second-degree burglary, criminal extortion, menacing, obstructing a peace officer, and multiple traffic violations.
Sindelar was located on May 23 at his residence in Greeley, where he barricaded himself inside before being taken into custody. He is being held on warrants from Jefferson, Weld and Morgan counties.
