KIMBALL -- Kimball High School State Track and Field qualifiers headed off to Omaha Thursday morning with a special send-off from local first responders.  

A representative from the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department, Kimball County Sheriff’s Department, Kimball Police Department, and Kimball Health Services drove through downtown with their sirens blazing with the students following in their “Kimball Longhorns” bus. 

Eighteen students are advancing to the NSAA Class D State Track and Field Championships May 23–24 at Omaha Burke Stadium. 

The students competing in the State Track Meet are: 

Noe Trevino in the 100- and 200-meter Relays and the 4x100 Relay; Jacob Wurdeman in the 100- and 200-meter Relays; Trenton Hottell in 300 M Hurdles; Rachel Berger in the 4x100 Relay; Braxton Miller in Triple Jump and the 1600-meter Relay; Conrad Kaminski in the 1600- and 3200-meter Relays; Peter Russell in Pole Vault and 4x100 Relay; Addy Olson in High Jump; Joey Perry in Discus; Greg Bingham in Long Jump; Faith Bohac in the 4x100 Relay; Clarika Hottell in Pole Vault; Brayden Fuss in Pole Vault and the 4x100 Relay; Connor Markum in the 4x100 Relay; Derek Russell in Shot Put and Discus; Charlotte Bremer in the 4x100 Relay; JaLeigh Bohac in Discus; and Emmaline Tabor in Long Jump and the 4x100 Relay. 

“We are very excited to be taking 18 to state,” said Track Coach Tiffany Johnson. “Their attitudes and effort during districts were amazing; they all showed up and gave their best efforts and it paid off.” 

As News Channel Nebraska previously reported, the Kimball High School Track and Field Team made history by claiming both the boys and girls team titles at the District Track and Field Meet in Bayard last week. 

The last team title won by the boys was in 1979, and the last girls' team title was in 1994.
