CHAPPELL -- The Chappell Community Fund is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from Adams Bank and Trust on.

The grant was announced on May 12. The funds will be used to add a shade structure to the splash pad.

In February, Shaunna Mashek of the Chappell Community Fund announced fundraising for the planned splash pad was at about three-quarters of the $200,000 goal. Less than a month later, it was announced the splash pad project was officially on the way; all necessary funds were raised.

Funding for the project was made possible through donations to the Chappell Community Fund, along with support from several key grant organizations. Officials gave special thanks to the Thomas D. Buckley Trust, Virginia Smith Trust, Black Hills Energy, ACE Energy, and an anonymous grant donor for making the project a reality.

Installation of the splash pad is expected by mid to late June.
