Bancroft-Rosalie teacher arrested, accused of having sex with student
BANCROFT, Neb. -- A Northeast Nebraska teacher is accused of having sexual relations with a student.
Britanny Stanek, 34, of Bancroft faces two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a first-degree sexual assault of a child charge, allegations that could have far-reaching consequences.
According to an affidavit provided by the Cuming County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began after Bancroft-Rosalie school officials reported that Stanek admitted to purchasing alcohol and tobacco for two students. Text messages from a boy’s phone revealed a three-way exchange between Stanek and the two boys, including explicit content and mentions of Stanek buying alcohol and tobacco for them.
One of the minors said that Stanek agreed to buy alcohol and ZYNs—a nicotine product—for him and another minor, and that Stanek drank with them and drove around with them in a vehicle while drinking on multiple occasions. The minor also said to law enforcement that, “He and Stanek had sex in his vehicle on one occasion sometime in March.”
After collecting the evidence, authorities arrested Stanek and transported her to the Thurston County Jail.
Stanek’s bail was set at $50,000. She posted 10% on May 5. While out on bail, Stanek is not allowed to have any unsupervised contact with a minor.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11.
