SIDNEY, Neb. — The Sidney Police Department continues to investigate a shots fired incident that occurred the night of Saturday, May 3, in north Sidney.

Officers were dispatched to the Sky Manor area at approximately 10:30 p.m. following a report of gunfire near a residence on East Drive. When officers arrived, they heard loud voices coming from a backyard gathering, but no one at the scene was willing to cooperate with law enforcement.

12 9mm shell casings were recovered from the street outside the residence. Police reported no injuries, broken glass, blood or visible property damage at the scene.

A witness told officers they observed a small black car in the area at the time of the shooting and heard a burst of gunfire before the vehicle sped away.

Sidney Police Chief Sam Lovato told News Channel Nebraska this week that no one has stepped forward with information. However, investigators are continuing to pursue leads.

“We are currently pursuing leads,” Lovato said. “No one has stepped forward with information that we’re able to disseminate at this time.”

Investigators are analyzing the shell casings, reviewing any related incidents and seeking surveillance footage from the area. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sidney Police Department at 308-254-5515.
