OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Longtime Mayor Jean Stothert has conceded and congratulated John Ewing on his historic election as Omaha’s next mayor.
Tuesday's general election upset makes Ewing the city’s first elected Black mayor.
Also on Tuesday, voters overwhelmingly passed the city charter amendment, which mandates that City Council vacancies be filled by an election if the office is vacated in the first two years of the term.
Here’s an update from the second round of ballot totals released at 10:25 p.m.
