Christ Lutheran school student and community partner to support Madison County K-9 unit
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Kyler, a seventh-grade student from Christ Lutheran School, is making a significant impact in his community by spearheading an ambitious fundraising campaign to provide the Madison County Sheriff's Office with a new K-9 unit. With a fundraising goal of $45,000, Kyler is demonstrating remarkable leadership and dedication.
Kyler's efforts kicked off with a lemonade stand, which impressively raised and donated $2,212. Building on this initial success, he has partnered with Culver's for a "Donate while you dine" event, where a percentage of sales will go directly towards the K-9 unit.
"What inspired me was, I want to keep people safer," Kyler explained. He hopes that the presence of a K-9 unit will provide a sense of security and aid in critical rescue operations. "If someone gets lost, they can use a dog to help find them," he added, highlighting the practical benefits of a trained K-9.
Beyond the tangible goal of funding a K-9 unit, Kyler's fundraising efforts have also had a profound personal impact. As someone who doesn't typically enjoy public speaking, organizing and promoting these events has pushed him outside of his comfort zone. "This was also an opportunity to help others not having to feel scared because I am not one who likes to talk," Kyler shared. "Setting up fundraisers really increased my ability to talk with others and get out."
Kyler's initiative showcases the power of young people to drive positive change in their communities. His dedication to public safety, combined with his newfound confidence in communication, makes him a true inspiration. The community is encouraged to support Kyler's mission by participating in the "Donate while you dine" event at Culver's and spreading the word about his fundraising efforts. Every contribution brings Madison County one step closer to welcoming a new K-9 unit, thanks to the vision and hard work of one exceptional seventh-grader.
