Scottsbluff man injured after stunt leads to motorcycle crash on East Overland
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A Scottsbluff man was injured Sunday afternoon after attempting a stunt on his motorcycle and losing control, according to the Scottsbluff Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 2 p.m. to the 200 block of East Overland following reports of a single-motorcycle accident with injuries. Investigators determined that Devontae Gutierrez, 24, was westbound on a black 2024 Kawasaki ER650 when he stood on the motorcycle seat, lost his balance and fell to the pavement.
Witnesses reported the bike continued traveling on its own for roughly 400 feet before coming to rest on its side in the westbound lane. Gutierrez suffered a leg injury and was transported by ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
The motorcycle sustained an estimated $300 in damage. Gutierrez was cited for willful reckless driving.
The 200 block of East Overland was closed for about 20 minutes while crews responded and investigated. Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
