Juvenile driver crashes through fences, garden, and garage in early morning Sidney accident
SIDNEY, Neb. — A male juvenile driver is facing potential charges after an early Sunday morning crash in Sidney damaged multiple properties and is suspected to have involved alcohol.
According to the Sidney Police Department, officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:14 a.m. on 16th Avenue between Ash Street and Birch Street. The crash involved a single vehicle veered off the road, crashing through a neighbor’s yard, striking the front of a garage and ultimately coming to rest in a second yard.
Eyewitness Dave Dickey said the vehicle destroyed both his backyard and garden fences, damaged several garden beds, and narrowly missed a shed.
Prior to entering his property, the car had slammed into the front of a garage next door, causing significant damage to the garage door and south wall, scattering items from inside the structure. A fence on that property was also damaged.
The car did not strike any homes.
No injuries were reported by residents in the affected homes. The male driver, identified as a juvenile, was the lone occupant of the silver Chevy and was transported to Sidney Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
The Sidney Police Department said alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor. Due to the involvement of a minor, further details are limited, but authorities confirmed criminal charges are being pursued under Nebraska statute.
