Hemingford boys, Bridgeport girls capture team titles at Bayard B-C-D Track & Field Meet

BAYARD — The Hemingford boys and Bridgeport girls claimed team championships Friday at the 2025 Bayard B-C-D Track and Field Meet.
Hemingford’s boys racked up 103 points behind a trio of standout performances. Boady Hunter won the 800 and placed third in the 1600. The Bobcats won the 4x100 and 4x400 and placed third in the 4x800. Michael Helmink added key points in the throws, placing second in both shot put and discus.
Kimball finished third in the boys team standings and had two major individual wins. Derek Russell swept the shot put (53’7”) and discus (163’5”), while Peter Russell cleared 13’10” to win pole vault.
Bridgeport's girls took home the team trophy with 86 points, fueled by Taylor Bright’s double podium in the 100 (2nd) and 200 (2nd), and a win in the 4x100 relay. Fallon DeBlois led the Bulldogs in the throws with a fourth in shot put and a third in discus.
Leyton’s Shawnee Gamble stole the show in the girls 100 meters with a personal best 12.54, edging Bright by a hundredth of a second. Teammate Zaili Benish added a win in the 300 hurdles and a runner-up finish in the 100 hurdles.
Hay Springs freshman Megan Anderson won the triple jump at 33’8” and placed fifth in the long jump.
Overall, Hemingford, Alliance and Kimball rounded out the top three in the boys standings, while Chadron and Alliance followed Bridgeport on the girls side.
