Armenia Opens the 60th European Karate Championship with Over 1,000 Delegates/Karate Federation of Armenia

The 60th edition of the European Karate Championship officially opened on May 8 in Yerevan, Armenia, bringing together more than 1,000 athletes from 54 countries, as well as coaches, referees, and officials from across the continent. This milestone event, hosted by the Armenian Karate Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science Culture and sport of Armenia and the European Karate Federation (EKF), marks a historic moment for Armenian sport and for the international karate community.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated in the presence of State Officials from Armenia and leaders in the karate world, including Antonio Espinós, President of the World and European Karate Federations, and Vazgen Harutyunyan, President of the Armenian Karate Federation.
“To all the athletes participating in this event, let me wish you the best success in the competition. It is already a big success to be here representing your country,” mentioned Antonio Espinós, President of the World and European Karate Federation
The event celebrates not only elite athletic performance but also the sport’s inclusivity and commitment to diversity.

The European Karate Championship will take place till May 11, culminating in the finals and medal ceremonies, with athletes competing for top honors and national pride.
