Authorities capture Nebraska fugitive after days-long manhunt

PINE RIDGE, S.D. — A manhunt in Nebraska and South Dakota is coming to an end.
The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety says authorities found 35-year-old Cody Dittman of Norfolk hiding alone at a residence near the Pine Ridge Dialysis Center in South Dakota. Dittman was on the run after police say he led authorities on a high-speed chase on Friday. The chase started on the Pine Ridge reservation and ended in a remote part of Dawes County, Neb.
Tribal police say Dittman swerved his vehicle toward officers during the pursuit, which prompted one officer to fire a shot. Police were pursuing him in connection to a firearms complaint. Dittman is also facing three felony charges in Madison County, Neb. For assault, strangulation and suffocation of a pregnant victim.
"In a remarkable display of teamwork, several law enforcement agencies have successfully apprehended male suspect Cody Dittman who had been on the run,” the tribal police said in a statement. “The coordinated efforts of OSTDPS police, DPS troopers, and federal agents culminated in the swift capture.”
The US Marshal Service captured Dittman with help from the Oglala Sioux Tribe and FBI.
