COZAD, Neb. - The Sidney High School track and field teams turned in a dominant showing at the Cozad Invitational on Tuesday, claiming numerous individual event titles and placing third in the boys division and second in the girls standings.

Sidney sprinters exploded out of the blocks in the boys 100 meters, with Lance Holly clocking a 10.91 for the win and Landon Riddle finishing third in 11.14. Riddle added a victory in the long jump at 20 feet, 5.25 inches, while Owen Gillham took second at 19-7. Gillham also placed fifth in the 100 and seventh in the 200.

The Red Raiders swept the top two spots in high jump, with Kash Knobbe and Keian Kaiser both clearing 6-1. Sidney’s 4x100 relay of Holly, Riddle, Rhys Dorcey and Gillham won in 42.74 seconds, and the throwers relay also claimed gold. Patrick McCartney placed second in the 300 hurdles and helped power the 4x800 team to a win with Branson Anderson, Dillon Cagle and Jonah Graham. Devin Roach led Sidney’s distance group with seventh-place finishes in both the 800 and 1600.

On the girls side, Sidney’s 4x100 team of Melody Sanchez, Jordynn Schnell, Ashlynn Weinbender and Laramey Misegadis edged Gothenburg by one-hundredth of a second to win in 51.94. The Raiders also won the 4x800 relay and placed second in the 4x400. Sanchez added an individual win in long jump (16-5), while Misegadis won the triple jump (33-3.5) and took third in high jump (4-11). Weinbender and Kyndi Martinez placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 hurdles, and both scored again in the 300 hurdles.

Reagan Nesbitt was fifth in shot put (33-11.25) and third in long jump (15-9). Valerie Fiscus cracked the top 10 in both the 200 and triple jump.

The girls 4x400 team of Aniston O’Neil, Marly Eastman, Haidyn Rapp and Story Rasby highlighted Ogallala’s day with a dominant win in 4:04.70. Rasby ran the anchor leg in a meet-best 57.1 split. Shaydyn Rasby placed second in the 100 meters, while Laney Caskey earned runner-up in shot put and sixth in discus.

Minden swept the team titles, scoring 130 points in the boys division and 137 in the girls.
