A cappella quintet, 'The Flyovers,' close out High Plains Arts Council season with soaring Sidney performance

SIDNEY — The High Plains Arts Council wrapped up its 2024-2025 season Friday night with a high-energy, harmony-filled performance by The Flyovers, a modern a cappella quintet from Lincoln, Nebraska.
Performing before a large audience at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center, tenors Ether Saure and Lucas Kellison, soprano Anna Claridge, bass Bill Catlett, and beatboxer D-Wayne brought a mix of fan favorites and unreleased material to the Sidney stage.
“We always like to try and bring our best for the High Plains Arts Council,” Kellison told 987 The Big Boy in an interview Friday morning. “They do such a great job taking care of their artists whenever we come out to the area. We’ve got some new material off an album we haven’t released yet — a few songs we haven’t performed before — and we’re excited about that.”
Formed during the pandemic, The Flyovers built their early success virtually, recording two albums before even meeting in person. Since debuting at the Nebraska State Fair in 2021, the group has continued to grow regionally, playing venues such as the Lied Center, The Rococo Theater and Minden Opera House.
“A cappella is mobile and easy to rehearse,” Kellison added. “It kind of works in almost any venue. It’s a unique challenge to try and fill out a sound with just the human voice and body.”
The High Plains Arts Council will open a new season this fall.
