Four people injured in two-vehicle crash at Scottsbluff intersection
SCOTTSBLUFF — Four people, including three juveniles, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night at the intersection of Avenue B and South Beltline Highway West, according to the Scottsbluff Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:15 p.m. on April 28 and discovered that a Ford SUV, driven by Elizabeth Johnson, 45, of Gering, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling south on Avenue B. The vehicle entered the intersection and struck a westbound Lincoln SUV on the passenger side.
The impact caused the Lincoln to spin, hit a median sign and come to rest in the eastbound lanes. Authorities said the driver of the Lincoln, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained a head injury. Three juvenile passengers in the Lincoln also reported injuries, including abdominal, pelvic, and neck pain. One of the juveniles was also unrestrained, police said.
All four occupants of the Lincoln were transported by Regional West Ambulance to Regional West Medical Center. Johnson and her passenger reported no injuries.
Johnson was cited at the scene for failure to stop at a stop sign and for operating a vehicle with no valid registration. Both SUVs sustained disabling damage and were towed.
The intersection was closed for about an hour as officers investigated and cleared debris. Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
