Sidney’s Lance Holly named top male athlete at Best in the West Track & Field Meet

SCOTTSBLUFF — High school athletes from across the Panhandle shined at Tuesday’s Best in the West Track and Field Meet at Bearcat Stadium.
Sidney’s Lance Holly was the male athlete of the meet, sprinting to victories in both the 100 meters (10.87) and 200 meters (22.44), and anchoring Sidney’s winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Teammate Kash Knobbe cleared 6-foot-2 to win the boys high jump, while Rylan Misegadis took first in the girls high jump at 5-foot-2.
Kimball’s Derek Russell dominated the throws, claiming titles in the shot put (50-10.5) and discus (155-0).
Leyton’s Zaili Benish earned a podium finish in the girls hurdles, placing third in the 300-meter event in 47.00 seconds and helping her 4x400 relay team to third overall.
Bridgeport’s top finish came in the boys discus, where Haden Rahmig placed fourth. Fallon DeBlois added a fifth-place throw in the girls discus.
Bayard’s Logan Metz, who signed to the Doane University Track & Field team on Monday, soared to third in the boys long jump with a leap of 20-9.
Torrington’s Brooklyn Asmus was named the girls athlete of the meet.
