One killed in fatal motorcycle crash

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - A young man is dead following a fatal crash in Central Nebraska.
21-year-old Jose Mendoza of Grand Island was killed Tuesday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a power pole, according to the Grand Island Police Department.
The incident happened around 6:50 p.m. west of the intersection of S. North Road and Stolley Park Road in Grand Island where Mendoza lost control, crossed the road and crashed into a power pole on the north side of the road.
Mendoza had been wearing his helmet, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours during the investigation at the scene.
The Grand Island Police Department accident reconstructionist continues to investigate the incident.
