Norfolk goes digital: new online permit system launching soon
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk is stepping into the future with a new online permit system! Say goodbye to in-person hassles—contractors and residents can now breeze through permit applications, inspections, and reviews from the comfort of their screens.
“The permits that we're talking about tonight comes from the building services, which is the Planning and Development Department,” said Norfolks Director of planning and development Valerie Grimes. “So, if you're going to do a shed or a roof, if you're doing a water heater, or doing some electrical work. So right now, all we have online through the building services portal and the city website, is PDFs that you can fill out.”
Then you would have to scan in the paper. With this new system, it will all be internal to the web based program that we're switching to. So you can submit those electrical permits, building permits, pictures, and any attachments where we didn't have that ability before.”
The official launch is May 5th, but if you have questions and want to learn more about the online permit system, swing by the last open house meeting on April 28th from 5 to 7 PM at the Norfolk City Council.
