PETA has beef with Hastings, to bring 'Hell on Wheels' pig truck in downtown protest

HASTINGS, Neb. - A global animal rights organization has beef with Central Nebraska, or at least with local restaurants that serve pork.
People for the ethical treatment of animals, or more commonly known as PETA, will be protesting the meat industry Friday in Hastings and urging people to become vegan.
The group will be utilizing their "Hell on Wheels" pig truck which has life-like pictures of pigs on the side of the vehicle along with speakers that will play the sound of pigs crying on repeat.
They said in a press release it will first stop at Murphy’s Wagon Wheel restaurant at noon, before moving on the other places that serve pork.
A Murphy's employee said on Thursday the restaurant wasn't previously aware of PETA's campaign and had no additional comment.
The PETA organization preaches going vegan in an effort to diminish the global meat industry.
