SIDNEY – The Flyovers, a modern a cappella quintet from Lincoln, will close the High Plains Arts Council’s 2024-2025 season with a concert featuring their smooth harmonies at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2.

Consisting of two tenors, Lucas Kellison and Ether Saure, a soaring soprano, Anna Claridge, a rumbling bass, Bill Catlett, and a talented beatboxer, D-Wayne, the group’s only instrument is their voices, and they have grown in popularity from unusually humble beginnings.

The Flyover’s are looking forward to performing in Sidney.

“Nebraska audiences are always receptive and very appreciative, and I am especially excited about our concert in Sidney. That is my mom’s hometown and I am hoping to bring her with me.” said tenor Lucas Kellison.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students (including WNCC), and children under five are free. Tickets will be available at the door.

Kellison had performed with and knew the other four performers and thought their voices would blend beautifully, so with that in mind, he wrote some arrangements. But when the pandemic prevented the five of them from getting together, Kellison recorded each singer individually in his basement, then used technology to mix the songs.

That is how he produced The Flyover’s first two albums, ‘Tis the Season! in 2020 and Now and Then in 2021. These albums were released and selling well before they had even met each other in person as a group.

Their first performance as The Flyovers was at the Nebraska State Fair in the fall of 2021. Since then, the quintet has released a second seasonal album, Holiday, and a gospel album, For Your Glory, and has performed concerts throughout the Midwest featuring the hits of the 1940’s through the 2020’s.
