Norfolk stuns Lincoln Southwest in penalty kicks
NORFOLK - For the first time in 19 years, the Norfolk Panthers have beaten the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks on the soccer pitch.
After back and forth defensive soccer, neither the Panthers or Silver Hawks were able to net a goal in the first half.
Lincoln Southwest had a pair of good opportunities off of corners in the first overtime half, but couldn't capitalize.
In the final 10 minutes of overtime, Isidro Rosas has a one on one with Silver Hawk's keeper Brentyn Ebeler, but was stopped by the junior goalie.
Still scoreless, the Panthers and Silver Hawks went to penalty kicks.
Both teams scored their first three PK's, but things changed when Noah Rakowsky sent his kick just over the crossbar.
Even at 4-4, Isidro Rosas took the final shootout shot and nailed the net for the victory.
Norfolk improves to 6-1, including a six-game win streak, while Lincoln Southwest falls to 3-2.
