COLUMBUS - It didn't take the Lincoln Southeast Knights very long to make headlines in the 2025 spring soccer season after traveling to Columbus and beating the Discoverers 2-0.

The wind played a factor all game long and only grew stronger as the match continued.

That didn't stop the Knights. After shutting down a few early Discoverer opportunities, the Knights broke the scoring barrier in the 15th minute. Lincoln Southeast's Sutton Antholz took a shot from 25 yards and curled in a beauty to give them a 1-0 lead.

The Knights controlled possession for much of the first half and held the lead into the break.

Lincoln Southeast kept the foot on the pedal in the second half as Katie Childress knocked in a 48th minute goal that snuck past Discoverer's keeper Tressa Kucera.

Columbus battled for a few chances later in the contest, but was unable to add anything to the score line.

Lincoln Southeast starts the new season 1-0 and will take on Lincoln North Star in their next matchup while Columbus starts out 0-1 and will travel to Norfolk next.
