Blizzard Warning issued for Wednesday in 50+ Nebraska counties
HASTINGS, Neb. — Nebraskans in the central and eastern parts of the state should expect significant disruptions from a winter storm on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for more than 50 counties in Nebraska. The warning is in effect from 1:00 Wednesday morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. Forecasters say snow accumulations in Central Nebraska will total two to six inches. Accumulations in areas of Eastern Nebraska ranging from Fremont to Tekamah could total up to 11 inches.
In addition to snow, forecasters predict the storm will include northwest winds gusting up to 55 or 65 mph. Those factors are likely to result in blizzard conditions and could drop visibility to below 1/4 miles.
The NWS says the blizzard will result in major impacts. It will likely cause dangerous or impossible driving conditions and widespread closures and disruptions to infrastructure could occur.
