COLUMBUS, Neb. -- U.S. Congressman Mike Flood will be holding a town hall meeting Tuesday in Columbus.

This event is being held despite Speaker of the House Mike Johnson advising Republicans not to host in-person town hall meetings. Johnson's recommendations come due to protesters filling the meetings and criticizing the Trump administration's handling of the federal government.

According to the Associated Press, Johnson's advice comes as GOP lawmakers find themselves at a loss to explain the cuts that are being led by billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.

Flood's town hall meeting will be held at the Columbus High School Auditorium from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Central Time. News Channel Nebraska will broadcast the event on TV and through streaming.

During the meeting, Flood said he will give an update on priorities that he has been working on for the city and Nebraska's First Congressional District.

There will be time for a question-and-answer. This event is open to the public.

In the Town Hall announcement it was stated, "In addition to the program, district staff will be available to assist with challenges regarding federal agencies, military academy nominations, scheduling requests and other needs constituents might encounter."

Mike Flood is the founder and an owner of Flood Communications and News Channel Nebraska.
