NSAA implements severe weather plan for state basketball tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska School Activities Association is working with Pinnacle Bank Arena, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Bob Devaney Sports Center and the National Weather Service to monitor the threat of severe weather during the NSAA Boys State Basketball Championships.
Officials are taking precautions due to the potential for high winds and hail, ensuring the safety of athletes and fans.
To minimize outdoor exposure, the NSAA is encouraging attendees to purchase tickets online before arriving at the arena. The ticketing window for the evening session will open at 4 p.m., an hour earlier than scheduled, to allow more time for fans to enter before any potential weather impacts.
If severe weather occurs, fans will be allowed to remain inside the facilities until conditions improve. In the event of a tornado warning, storm shelters will be available for spectators and participants.
The NSAA said all games will proceed as scheduled unless further updates are announced. This includes Scottsbluff's Class B semifinal game vs. Elkhorn North Friday night at 7:45 p.m. CDT.
All semifinal games at Pinnacle Bank Arena are being shown on News Channel Nebraska TV.
