LINCOLN — Doniphan-Trumbull made 10 three-pointers and upset Ogallala on Wednesday afternoon.

The victory marks the first state tournament win since 2014 for Doniphan-Trumbull and ends a four-game losing skid in Lincoln. The win is a remarkable turnaround for the #7 Cardinals, who lost to the #2 Indians 75-33 on Dec. 21.

Doniphan-Trumbull got off to a hot start and led 8-0 two-and-a-half minutes into the game. Ogallala roared back later in the quarter with a 10-point run to briefly grab the lead. The teams were tied 20-20 after one quarter.

The Cardinals led by five at half. Both teams slowed down and scored just 11 combined points in the third. Doniphan-Trumbull started the fourth quarter with a pair of threes and finished the game strong to record the win.

Ogallala played without leading scorer Sawyer Smith, who injured his ankle in practice. Starting guard Lincoln Gillen left with a leg injury in the second half.

45 points was the season-low total for the Indians. Their previous low was 58.

Doniphan-Trumbull will face the winner of #3 Omaha Concordia vs. #6 Sidney on Friday in the Class C-1 semifinals. Tipoff is set for 10:45 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game will be televised on News Channel Nebraska.
