Norfolk Senior High's head volleyball coach, teacher retires

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Norfolk Senior High's head volleyball coach, Dave Hepner, will retire at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
Hepner has been a teacher at the Alternatives for Education Program, the Senior High, and coached volleyball, basketball and track.
“After much prayer and consideration I have decided to retire after 30 years of teaching and coaching," Hepner said. "I want to dedicate more time to my family moving forward and focus on my own health. I want to thank everyone that has been a part of my journey over all these years, it has truly been remarkable. I started my career at NPS and to come full circle and to retire here has been a true blessing. I've had the opportunity to work with some great teachers, coaches and athletes over the years and feel I have been touched by all of them in some capacity. I look forward to the next chapter of my life and am truly thankful for the multiple relationships and opportunities I've been blessed with. I look forward to seeing NPS athletics continue to improve and grow moving forward.”
“I would like to thank Coach Hepner for continuing to build the NSH volleyball program," said John Erwin, NSH Activities Director. "I appreciate all the time and effort he has put into the program and I know the program is in a better place because of him. I want to wish him the best of luck in his retirement.”
NPS will begin the search for Hepner’s replacement immediately.
