Clay County man who killed his wife dies at hospital

Authorities in central Nebraska say the man arrested in connection to Friday, Feb. 21 Clay County homicide, has died.

HARVARD, Neb. -- Authorities in central Nebraska say the man arrested in connection to Friday, Feb. 21 Clay County homicide, has died. 

The Nebraska State Patrol said 39-year-old Toby Gray was arrested on charges of first-degree murder in the rural Harvard homicide.

Toby Gray died Friday morning at Bryan Health West campus. 

NSP said Toby Gray was in custody at the hospital, and had been since he was initially found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Friday evening homicide scene. 

NSP's investigation determined that Toby Gray had called Clay County 911 threatening to harm his wife, 35-year-old Heather Gray. 

When deputies arrived, they found Heather Gray had died from multiple gunshot founds, and found Toby Gray with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
