Garrett's 55 points smash program record in Northeast Hawks upset victory
NORFOLK - The final regular season contest at the Cox Activities Center came with a glaring cost - no more Vincent Garrett showcases at home.
The Northeast Hawks (7-17) ended their season with a dominant 109-99 victory over the Ellsworth Panthers (19-10) and secured a spot against DMACC in the ICCAC postseason tournament.
The win was behind Vincent Garrett's 55-point explosion that helped the Hawks get up early and stay in front of the Panthers.
Garrett's 55 points broke the Northeast Community College school record for points in a game, overtaking Jalen Bradley's 2015 record-setting performance of 42 points.
Garrett also eclipsed 1,000 points in his two year career.
The Hawks also saw great contribution from Chase Williams, scoring 14 points, Luke Brown with 11 and Bryson Faines with 8 points, among other key players.
The Panthers were led by Rollings Kamanda and Taevean Brown, scoring 21 and 20 respectively.
