CPD has found their person of interest in Thursday morning crime

The Columbus Police Department said Ricardo Alvarez has been located and is in police custody at the time. There is no further danger to the citizens.

Authorities in northeast Nebraska are looking for a person of interest in a violent crime that happened Thursday morning.
The Columbus Police Department said they are attempting to find 26-year-old Ricardo Alvarez.
Alvarez is a person of interest after reportedly stabbing another person this morning in the area of Pawnee Park around 9 a.m.
Police said Alvarez is a Hispanic male, 5'8" tall and about 155 pounds. He is reported to be wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants.
CPD said Alvarez is considered to be dangerous.
"If he is seen, do not approach, call the Columbus Police Department at 402-564-3201 or 911," said CPD Sgt. Bret Stecker.
Law enforcement aid they responded to the report of a stabbing just before 9 a.m.
Officers said when they arrived they had spoke with the victim, who was taken to a local hospital.
