KEARNEY, Neb.- A Kearney senior is following a lifelong goal of signing with a major division one football team.

On Wednesday, Turner Bertrand signed with Washington State, where he will play offensive tackle for the Cougars.

Bertrand said it was his first D1 offer, "I was in construction class and their head recruiter talked to me for over an hour and set up an official visit."

"I got to meet all the new coaching staff and they believe in me," said Bertrand.

Turner's cousin Reese signed to the University of Nebraska-Kearney to play football.

The Kearney High football team went 10-2 last year, losing in the Class A Semifinal to Millard South.
