WOOD RIVER, Neb.- After winning only one game a year ago, the Wood River football team is celebrating one of their best seasons in recent memory-along with sending three players to division two programs.

Beau Rohrich, Noah Packer, and Reagan Zessin are all staying in-state to pursue their dreams of playing football at the next level.

Rohrich and Packer will be headed to the University of Nebrasa-Kearney, with Zessin going to Wayne State.

The Wood River Eagles went 1-8 in 2023, but this year had their best season in over 20 years by going 9-2.

“Reagan, Beau and I showed up and worked hard every day, and it paid off,” said Packer.

Zessin and Packer helped lead the way for Rohrich's single-season school record of 2,026 rushing yards.

It won’t take long for them to meet on the gridiron, as UNK open next season at Wayne State.

"It'll be fun to see each other again and watch our teams play," said Zessin.
