PLATTSMOUTH - Jeremy Soesbe, 43, of Mason City, Iowa, entered a plea this week to burglary at Westover Rock & Sand at Weeping Water in August of 2023.

Soesbe was arrested after the Cass County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance regarding burglaries at Westover, as well as the Cass County roads office, Frontier Coop in Manley, Frontier Coop in Elmwood and Ulmer Construction in Elmwood.

Law enforcement agencies in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota used a description of a Chevy Silverado to develop suspects.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office used automatic license plate reader data to identify the truck. Sheriff Colin Caudill said his office assisted law enforcement in Iowa in locating the truck in the Council Bluffs area.

Another Mason City man, 34-year-old Shawn Boger, is subject of an active warrant out of Cass County.

A Dawson County Sheriff’s Office affidavit says Stryker Tractor Service in Dawson County was ransacked on Aug. 28, 2023. A safe with $900 was stolen.

Dawson County records say Sheriff Caudill received copies of shoe impressions and confirmed they were like shoe impressions from burglary sites along Highway 2 in Otoe County on Aug. 23.
The sheriff used phone records to link a rented Toyota pickup to Boger's residence in Mason City.  Otoe County reported that Boger’s phone had traveled from Sioux City to Grand Island during the time of the Dawson County burglary and said the phone had been sitting at Stryker’s Tractor Service before returning to Mason City.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reported that a pair of boots located during a search of Boger’s residence matched a boot print at a burglary in Eddyville.

Sentencing for Soesbe is scheduled March 10.
