HASTINGS, Neb. — Nebraska may have dodged the worst of the predicted snow totals from a weekend winter storm, but cold temperatures are expected to remain.

The National Weather Service issued a Cold Weather Advisory for 39 counties in Nebraska ranging from the South Dakota border to the Kansas border. The advisory will run from midnight until 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The NWS predicts that overnight low temperatures will dip as low as 0 to -10 degrees. Wind chill values could drop as low as -25 degrees thanks to a north wind gusting at up to 10 mph.

Weather officials warn that frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes. They say snow cover can enhance overnight cooling.

Wind chill values could briefly exceed 0 degrees on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, but are expected to plunge below zero overnight through Wednesday.
