Columbus secure rivalry win over Norfolk at home
COLUMBUS - From start to finish, the Discoverers were in control of the Norfolk Panthers in a 57-45 victory on Thursday night.
Columbus jumped out to an early 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, forcing the Panthers into tough turnovers and difficult shots.
The Discoverers slightly increased the lead to 7 points at halftime, but come out firing in the third quarter.
Columbus outscored Norfolk 20-12 in the third quarter, propelled by Quinn Freshour's 12 point period.
Freshour continued to lead the charge into the fourth quarter and the Discoverers put the game away with a late three pointer by Jaxson Vasicek.
Quinn Freshour scored 22 points in the 12-point victory for Columbus, followed by Luke Messersmith's 12 point outing.
Norfolk's Drew Streich scored 17 points in the loss.
Columbus evens their record at 4-4, while Norfolk falls to 2-6.
